Anne Frank did not like living in hiding with her family for two years during the Holocaust. She found the lack of freedom, constant fear, and confinement difficult to bear. She expressed her struggles and frustrations in her diary, which was later published as "The Diary of a Young Girl."
The conflict is that Anne and her family, along with some other Jews, have to live in hiding from the horror of the holocaust. Living in hiding can cause problems, and Anne has many struggles that come from living in such close quarters with out much food or contact without the outside world.
Anne Frank received her diary in 1942, and wrote in it - and a succession of other diaries - until August 1, 1944. On August 4th, they were arrested, and immediately after the arrest, Miep Gies gathered up Anne's diary and put it - unread - in a drawer of her desk, intending to give it back to Anne after the war. When Anne did not come back, she gave it instead to Otto.
