Problem with the choke or cold start injector system.
The most comon cause of an engine that keeps revving up and down (aka surging) is a dirty air filter.
If the engine is revving up, then the transmission is having problems. If the engine is not revving, then check the linkage from the accelerator to the throttle body.

I have the same problem, and I've been told the most likely reason is the accelerator cable needs replacing, or there is a problem with the automatic choke! Hope this helps. disconnect the battery for a couple of hours - it works!
vroom need more info, is the noise from ther motor or body. A high pitched shakey sound could be a broke muffler hanger or the heat shiled on the cat

Perhaps you have not engaged the clutch? The accelerator is designed to increase the RPMs. If you provide no resistance it will rev until it explodes.
