Not especially. He resented his wife Catherine for 'giving' him ten children and felt they had grown apart. He seemed not to recognize that the pressure of so many pregnancies and the strain of living with a celebrated man of boundless energy might have been the reason for the growing distance. He separated from her, rather publically, in 1858, though he supported her for the rest of his life. Oddly, his wife's sister, Georgiana, continued to live with Dickens has his housekeeper after the separation. As a father, Dickens seems to have been conscientious and a good provider, but randomly overly strict and over-indulgent. Some of the boys were as spendthrift as their grandfather. "He started his children off well, but most of his sons were indecisive in establishing their own careers. Dickens was constantly bailing his children-and his parents-out of debt." he was good
Charles Dickens had a difficult life as a child because of his father's financial problems. He was forced to cease his education in order work under terrible conditions in a boot blacking plant after his father went to debtor's prison.
a good 1
Charles Dickens, born in 1812, was a phenomenal writer, but he did more than publish some of the greatest novels of all time. He went above and beyond being a good son while his father was imprisoned after not paying debts. Dickens went broke when he had to sell all of his belongings to get him out of jail.
Yes, indeed, they were very good friends. In fact, when Charles and Catherine went to America, the Dickens children stayed with the Macready family. In his Selected Letters, Dickens writes warmly and affectionately of, and to, Macready.
Dickens was actually a good student. He loved school and worked hard, especially after his experience working at the blacking factory while his father was in debtors prison.
charles dickens wanted to help the poor because they did not have a very good life. The poor usually lived on the street
not very good bt we dont care
John Rokesmith (alias Harmon) says it to Bella Wilfer in Dickens' "Our Mutual Friend."
good
Charles Dickens wrote about his life so it must have been quite bad because his life wasn't very good.
In my opinion, a good place to start with Charles Dickens would be either The Pickwick Papers or David Copperfield. These are a little more reader-friendly than some of Dickens' other works.
