Marx didn't do anything of the sort, as he died in 1883. Capital was prepared for publishing by Engels in this interval but when Marx died he had just about finished the completion of the editing of V. 2 but still had plenty more he wanted to write for the third volume. A rough first draft of the fourth volume was left behind by Marx when he died and was later published as Theories of Surplus Value.
