This depends on which of the William Buroughs men you mean. Of the original beat author, the one whote wrote Junky and such, I don't believe he ever invented anything but his books. His son, as far as I know, did even less. However, William S. Burroughs 1st - the author's grandfather - invented a calculating machine and started a company just a few years before he died.
