The both agreed that social justice and oppression can never happen only if the person that is to be oppressed is educated or conditioned to think a certain way. For example, Freire argued that teachers sometimes act as oppressors by teaching students to memorize facts, and not really explaining the relevance of such lessons. This oppresses students, since many start thinking a certain way just because the teacher said so. If students are taught to think for themselves since their young, they will have a better chance at being able to live independednt without relying so much on others. Karl Marx, argued the same thing but he said it a little different. He said that being and living, helps you start thinking and making up your mind.
