Yes! Utah and Salt Lake City are very family friendly. If you are downtown, check out the Gateway, they have a childrens museum and planetarium, as well as a fountain for kids to play in during the summer months. Temple Square also has a kids section in their museum and interactive displays that kids love to play with in their visitors centers. Hogle Zoo is just a few miles east of downtown, and is also located near This is the Place Heritage Park, where kids can learn more about what frontier life was like. Depending on the age of your kids, you might want to visit Lagoon Theme Park, which is located a few miles north in Farmington. Lagoon's rollercoasters and waterslides are mostly geared toward school-age kids and teens. You may also want to see what events are going on at the Gallivan Center, they often have concerts and festivals for families.
Yes! Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas have something for just about everyone. There are plenty of outdoor activities, lots of sightseeing, shopping, history, and museums, and the people are generally very friendly. Some activities I would suggest: Visit the 2002 Olympic Venues - try your hand at bobsledding, ski jumping, or speed skating! Visit some historic sites downtown, consider Temple Square (the headquarters of the Mormon Church), The Cathedral of the Madeline, the State Capitol, or the Governor's Mansion. For kids, go to the Hogle Zoo, or visit This is the Place Park (pioneer-era renactments and activities). Shop at the Gateway Mall downtown and visit the Planetarium while there. They have some great 3-D movies and laser shows. Go hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, etc. Attend some free concerts or other events downtown. Popular venues are Gallivan Plaza, Pioneer Park, and Temple Square.
