Twice. He was married to Grace Gallatin, sometimes known as Grace Thompson Seton, author of A Women Tenderfoot, Nimrod's Wife and a number of travel-oriented books. They had a daughter Ann who became a best-selling author of historical fiction in her own right, using the pen name Anya Seton. After they divorced and Seton relocated from Connecticut to New Mexico, Seton married Julia M. Buttree, who was also the author of a number of books. They adopted a daughter, Beulah, who was later known as Dee Seton.
