Josh Elliot, his older brother and younger sister were all adopted from different birth parents. Until Josh was 12 years old the family lived in a traditional California family home. When he was 12 his parents who loved each other very much decided to divorce and Josh's father told the family he was homosexual. Less than three years later his father died of cardiomyopathy and the three children were left to be raised by a single, struggling mother.
