She came up with the idea of the first Harry Potter book on a train. She didnt want to ask a stranger if she could borrow a pen, so she waited, and as soon as she got home J.K Rowling started writing.

JK Rowling started to write Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on a napkin in 1990. It was published in 1997. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released on July 21, 2007. (I was at a release party, it was super fun!)

Harry was born in 1980, the first book takes place mostly in 1991/1992 the last book takes place in 1997/1998, and the epilogue takes place in 2016.
