The word horny "sexually excited, lecherous" derives from an interesting yet not surprising source. As early as the mid-18th century, an erection was known as a horn or the horn, simply because it looked a bit like one. James Joyce even used the term in his Ulysses. From there, any man having the horn was called horny, and this is first recorded in 1889. It was surely in use long before then, as the hornprobably was. It often takes some time for lewd slang to make it into the written record.

The word horny is derived from Greek mythology. The god Pan was always after the nymphs but they always turned him down. Because he had horns, the word horny got associated with anyone who was after someone.

Horny comes from the 19th Century use of the word 'horn' to represent a man's erection, as it was considered similar in looks to that of a horn. The word 'horny' was therefore used in association with this and thus means the same today as it did in the 1800s: the term 'horn' to describe an erection has, however, wained within public dialect. Another take on Horny comes from the Great God Pan, he was the Horniest of all, having sex with goats, men, boys, Goddesses, and not just any Goddesses, Goddess of the Moon and Aphrodite herself. So now when you hear horny its Pan's Lust eco-ing through time, and the real kicker is he is known to have actual Horns!!! Go fiqure.
so horny, horny horny horny.
