Upon taking command of a unit, senior leaders are provided an AFEM immersion briefing on the installation's emergency management program by the installation's emergency management personnel or the designated emergency management officer. This briefing covers key aspects of the program, including response plans, training requirements, and resources available for effective crisis management. It ensures that leaders understand their roles and responsibilities in emergency situations, fostering a culture of readiness within the unit.
It is useful to use the steps of the composite risk management process to organize your safety briefing.
A Planning Section Chief generally facilitates the operational period briefing.
Incident briefing
yes
It is usually called an emergency briefing and it goes over the procedures to follow in case of an emergency, who will handle communications, follow checklists, etc. Pilots go over an emergency briefing and also passengers are presented with what is normally a passenger safety briefing to familiarize the passengers with the particular airplane they are flying in, which goes over the use of a seat belt, flotation device, oxygen mask, crash position, exits, etc.
The Operational Period Briefing is a key component of the Incident Command System (ICS) used in emergency management. It occurs at the beginning of each operational period and serves to communicate critical information to all responders, including objectives, strategies, and resource assignments. This briefing ensures that everyone is aligned on the current situation, priorities, and tasks, promoting effective coordination and teamwork during an incident. It typically involves various personnel, including incident commanders, section chiefs, and field personnel.
