"Fear is the thief of dreams." is a quote by Brian Krans in the book A Constant Suicide. Award-winning journalist and author Brian Krans lives and works in the Midwest. A Constant Suicide is his first novel. Like his characters, Krans' experience at college was filled with many hours in party houses and even longer hours catching up in the library afterward. It was the hectic lifestyle of a student-partier and other forces that sent Krans into a state of depression that ended in a suicide attempt his junior year, only to be rescued by his roommate and cousin. In November 2006, in conjunction with the Q-C November Novelists, Krans expanded a short story he wrote at Winona State University into A Constant Suicide. Between a full-time job as a newspaper reporter, a weekend job as a bartender and volunteering with teenage kids, Krans wrote this part-fiction, part-memoir of his college experience. He is thirty-one years old (2013)

The phrase "fear can't hurt you more than a dream" suggests that the limitations we impose on ourselves through fear often prevent us from pursuing our aspirations. While fear can be paralyzing, often the consequences of not chasing our dreams can be even more damaging, leading to regret and unfulfilled potential. Embracing our dreams requires overcoming fear, as the pursuit of those dreams ultimately leads to personal growth and fulfillment. In essence, the risks associated with following our dreams are often less harmful than the emotional toll of living in fear.
