Anne Frank died, at just age 15, after a typhus epidemic spread through the Concentration camp where she was incarcerated during WWII. The epidemic killed an estimated 17,000 prisoners at Bergen-Belsen. However, the Nazis had starved the prisoners. The only water available was dirty water--which is the source of typhoid fever. Unsanitary conditions made the illness spread.
