Tolkien names the man Bard (Old English term for poet) because he wanted to highlight the importance of language, storytelling, and heroic deeds in his work. By naming the dragon-slayer after a poet, Tolkien adds a layer of depth and significance to the character, emphasizing the power of words and courage in the face of adversity.
J.R.R. Tolkien created or borrowed from several languages when developing these tales. The Lake-men spoke the language of Dale represented by Old Norse, so Bard's name means beard while the word beard can also mean part of an axe. The definition of the word you are referring to in your question is a derivation of the Old Celtic/Gaulish word bardos, which means poet or singer.
Oh, dude, the climax in "Dragon, Dragon" is when the knight realizes the dragon he's been sent to slay is actually a tiny, harmless creature, and he feels bad for wanting to kill it. It's like a plot twist, but not really, because let's be real, did anyone really think a dragon named "Fluffy" was gonna be a threat? So yeah, that's the big moment where the knight's like, "Oops, my bad."
HobbitsEntsOrcsBalrogThere are really too many to list. Try checking out the Tolkien Bestiary; the book is gigantic.

Ok, I'm not that good at coming up with a ton of names...depends on what kind of dragon and the area. For example, let's say it's an Asian Lung. In that case it's name would be something Asian-sounding. Something like Kiyo or Tatsu. (these names aren't mine they're Asian words meaning dragon or famous dragons in legend) If it's a Marsupial Dragon in Africa, then a name would be an African name. So, ya know what I mean? Figure out what kind of dragon and the area, and find a name from that country/area/whatever that you like. :)
Probably an ash dragon. Think about it: lava + flower = ash.
