He was an Indian. He had little power himself, so he had to play both sides. Someone was going to win the war and he needed to have allies on the winning side.
yes, the patriots fought the British in the Revolutionary war. so don't think it was a loyalists or tories.
The Whigs wanted independence from Britain while the Tories didn't think independence was necessary. The Tories (or Loyalists) didn't want to have to worry about fending for themselves. They weren't ready for independence.

well.... they both came from all walks of life. they both disliked the taxes that the king had put on goods, they thought that they were be treated unfairly by the king, both were culturally identical, and both patriots and the loyalists were devoted to their cause and belief.
