If they didn't, Hitler would track them down and separate them from each other and put them each in a concentration camp. They would die.
Margot received a letter from the Nazi's asking for her (as they picked out random people) They had to reply otherwise the Nazis would come looking for them and take them to the concentration camps and starve them. this is why they had to go and hide in the secret annex.
Anne Frank parents had plan to move into the secret annex with was situated in the attic of Otto Frank (Anne's dad) building once Hilter raised to power. However, they moved in weeks before they had planned when Margot Frank got a call-up from Central Office for Jewish Emigration ordering her to report for relocation to a work camp. They moved into the secret annex on 6 July 1942 where they were joined a week later by the van Pels family and later in November by Fritz Pfeffer.
An attic on top of Mr. Franks office.
Besides the Frank family, the van Pels family (mother, father and teenage son) and a dentist named Fritz Pfeffer shared the hiding place with the Franks.

The annex where Anne Frank and her family were hiding was discovered on August 4, 1944, by German police following an anonymous tip. The anonymous tip was likely a result of a betrayal by someone who knew about their hiding place. The Frank family and the others in hiding were arrested and taken to concentration camps.
* August 4, 1944 - Their hiding place is discovered and they are arrested. * September 3, 1944 - Frank family are transported to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland. * October, 1944, Anne and Margot are transported from Auschwitz to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. * March 1945 - Anne dies in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, from Typhus
No one knows. I mean, her family knew and Miep Giese (don't know how to spell it but it is pronounce meep geese) knew. But no one knows who ratted them out.
No one really knows for sure, someone told the Nazis about their hiding place. I think :)
i dont know who know about it
Anne Frank's hiding place was located in a concealed area behind a movable bookcase in her father's office building. The annex consisted of a few small rooms with limited space where Anne, her family, and some friends lived in hiding for over two years during World War II.
Mr. Frank included Mr. van Pels in his planning almost from the beginning.
Otto Frank may have been furious because he discovered that his family's hiding place had been discovered by the Nazis or that they were betrayed to the authorities. He also may have been furious about the injustices and atrocities being committed against Jewish people during the Holocaust.
