If the battery is sulfated (or otherwise faulty) to such an extent that it calls for a continuous charge, the alternator never gets a chance to switch off. With the resposibilitiy to run continuously the alternator overheats and eventually fails. Never replace a faulty alternator without also checking the battery.
alternator needs to be replaced. battery also might be a problem due to the alternator not charging it
I have a 1995 Nissan Sentra and the same thing happened to me about two weeks ago. The problem was a wire going from the alternator had gone bad. So your problem can be the same thing or the alternator. I had just replaced my alternator so I knew it had to be something else.
check your radiator. is it clean or does it need to be replaced? a simple cleaning cured my problem.
I had this problem on my disco 1. Turned out to be the alternator, which was replaced and the problem was fixed.
My guess is the head gasket, have same problem. Nightmare
"was having charging system problem so alternator was replaced now car keeps flooding and won`t fire.
I had the same problem and then my alternator went out. Replaced alternator and haven't had the problem since. Check your belts.
New Alternator BUT Warning Light Still Stays OnMaybe there was nothing wrong with the alternator you replaced, and the problem is somewhere else in the charging system!Although possible, it is highly unlikely that a new alternator would be defective.
you might want to check for a blown head gasket or a cracked head or block. espically if it loosing water out of the radiator with out leaking on the ground.
There is no problem...the problem was the alternator. You have fixed the problem.
Idle air control? Fuel pump? Coil?
Had same problem with mine. Also abs,tcs and e-brake light would come on when speedometer stopped working. Turned out alternator was putting out 16v. Replaced alternator and battery. Solved problem. Replaced both speed sensors first did not help. Good luck
