1992 ford explorer when turn headlights on the instrument lights don't light up but can turn them on by turning dimmer knob over to turn overhead light on all fuses are ok?

The dimmer portion of your headlight switch is bad (you will have to replace the entire switch). If you can not afford a new switch or don't have the time to do it now remove your dome lights and carry a flashlight in your glove box. The switch is not all that complicated to replace if you choose to do it yourself and take your time. Dave K.
