if your battery is bad, you don't need to conect the negative wire to the battery terminal because when you jump start, the proper way to do it is ,the good battery gets both jumper wires conected to it and the dead battery only needs the positive wire . simply place the negative somewhere on the chasis of the vehicle.(good ground source)engine block or whatever. being that cars operate on a one wire circuit the energy if grounded properly to the vehicle will always find its way back. this will not work if your battery is not ground it(conected) What if my battery (96 Lumina) is good and I want to jump another car. I can't find the negative terminal. Keep in mind I am not the most mechanically inclined person. However I had jumped many batteries in my day. For some reason I can not find the negative terminal on this car. Also Chevy has the battery under the windshield washer fluid container. How idiotic is that!! Maybe I need to take that out? If that's the case then Chevy is ridiculous!!
Yes, you can jump start the battery on a 1998 Chevy Lumina. To do so, connect the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery to the positive terminal of the working battery, then connect the negative (-) terminal of the working battery to a grounded metal surface on the Lumina. Make sure to follow safety precautions and ensure the vehicles are off before connecting the cables. Once connected, start the working vehicle and then attempt to start the Lumina.
under the winsheild washer reservoir. the positive terminal is located under the windshield washer reservior and the negative terminal is located on a bolt on the engine (metal)
Start by locating the Positive terminal (usually the red one)... Disconnect it from the battery. Then do the same for the Negative terminal (the black one). Then there may be a small hex head bolt at the bottom the the battery, check for it and remove it, the battery should come right out.
The battery is located under the windshield wiper reservoir. You may need to remove the sir filter housing to get to it also. Its driver side front and its side post. Negative terminal is closer to the front of the vehicle.
To change the battery in a Finishing Touch Lumina, first, ensure the device is turned off. Locate the battery compartment, typically found at the bottom or back of the unit, and gently slide or open it. Remove the old battery and replace it with a new one, ensuring the positive and negative ends are correctly aligned. Finally, close the battery compartment securely before using the device again.
I think so...
you can buy jumper cables that are specifically made to clip onto side terminals for these batteries
GM vehicles use side post batteries. The terminals are on the side of the battery. 98 Lumina with 3.8 it's on the drivers side under a red plastic cap for positive.
when in doubt, you can always follow the positive battery cable down to the starter. It will end up there.
The battery is located under the hood on a 2000 Chevrolet Lumina. The battery will be on the drivers side.
on my 98, its under the wiper fluid tank
red lead to the larger of the two posts (positive) and negative lead to a common earth on the vehicles engine such as a mounting point or engine block. start opposing vehicle and allow to charge for 30 seconds then proceed to start the 1997 lumina allow to run then remove negative THEN positive lead.
