The speedometer and tachometer on a 2011 Chevy Silverado can stop working due to issues such as a faulty vehicle speed sensor (VSS), a malfunctioning instrument cluster, or problems with the wiring and connections. Additionally, a blown fuse or issues with the engine control module (ECM) can also disrupt their functionality. Regular diagnostics can help identify the specific cause of the failure.
Check the fuses near the drivers left foot

To fix the speedometer and tachometer on an Oldsmobile Silhouette, first check the vehicle's fuses and wiring for any issues, as blown fuses or damaged wires can cause gauge failure. If the fuses are intact, inspect the vehicle's speed sensor and tachometer signal; both may need replacement if faulty. Additionally, consider checking the instrument cluster connection for loose or corroded plugs. If these steps do not resolve the issue, professional diagnostic tools may be required to pinpoint the problem.
you dont need to cause it has a factory tachometer
Yes, a blown fuse can cause tachometer problems. If the fuse that powers the tachometer or its associated components is blown, the tachometer may fail to operate or provide inaccurate readings. Additionally, electrical issues related to fuses can lead to erratic behavior in the instrument cluster, affecting the tachometer's performance. It's important to check the relevant fuses if the tachometer is malfunctioning.
I'm not sure about the speedometer, but if the tach is not working a good bet would be the tach filter. With age, a wire often breaks off on these. Look in one of the service manuals to find location. The speedometer may have a similar sensor, but I'm not certain. Thanks! I will check out the book ASAP. Appreciate your answering.
Different size tires and wheels. The factory size tires and wheels are calibrated with the speedometer. If a different sized tires or wheels are put on the vehicle, the speed can be off.
A bad ignition coil can cause your 1987 Acura tachometer to quit working. A bad tachometer cable or ground wire can also cause it to quit working.
There are several things that can cause your 2003 Mitsubishi Gallant speedometer not to work. The most common cause is a malfunctioning speedometer cable.
You may need to replace the speedometer fuse. The speedometer cable can cause your speedometer to stop working. The speed sensor can also cause the speedometer to stop working.
no it will not!
