It Could Be A Bad Cataylic Converter. This sounds like a weak fuel pump which is the #1 problem with these cars. Have yours checked.

Either way if you have a 2nd gen Ford Probe GT then you have a 2.5L 24V V6, the fuel filter is on the drivers side of the engine bay kinda tucked between the tranny and the fire wall (believe the bracket for the filter actually mounts to the top tranny mount).
