No, you can even mix them. Before switching from petroleum oil to syntheitic oil, I would suggest putting a detergent flush thru the engine to remove all the gunk left by the original oil. Add deteregnt to engine, with old oil still in it , run for 30 minutes, then drain crankcase completely. Remove engine oil pan, scrape out solids and replace with new pan gasket, and install a magnetic drain plug to catch metal bits, and re-install pan. Add new synthetic oil, check for leaks as engine runs in the new oil. Check engine cold, daily for 7 days, before starting engine. Change synthetic at 5,000 miles and check for metal debris in pan and in oli filter. Cut oil filter in half to look for metal bits. Synthetic oil will last longer than petroleum based oils but they are sensitive to water or other contaminats. Check weekly for water on the top of the dipstick level. No need to run detergents or do any prep when switching to synthetic. Synthtic oils are detergent rich. Drain old oil and put in the new ( change filter of course).

Can you use synthetic motor oil on your Acura MDX?

Yes, you can use synthetic motor oil in your Acura MDX. In fact, many manufacturers, including Acura, recommend synthetic oil for its superior performance, better protection at high temperatures, and longer oil change intervals. Always check your owner’s manual for the specific oil viscosity and specifications needed for your model year.

What type of motor oil needed for a 1994 Saturn SL2 1.9 liter engine?

If it has more that 80,000 to 100,000 miles, I would run 10W-40 Castrol or Valvoline. I would use 10W-30 weight of the same brands for low mileage engines. I would strongly recommend a synthetic of a reputable brand or at least a part synthetic. The wal-mart brand has a good half and half. This oil is more expensive, but if you keep the filter changed(oil and air) you want have to change oil nearly as often and the synthetic is much better than regular oil.

When do you change oil on the 2006 Lexus?

For a 2006 Lexus, it's generally recommended to change the oil every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, depending on driving conditions and oil type. If using synthetic oil, you may extend the interval to around 7,500 miles. It's also wise to check the owner's manual for specific recommendations. Regular checks of the oil level and condition can help determine if more frequent changes are needed.
