It is more likely that the carburetor gets less fuel as the filter clogs up. However, if the filter starts to crack up, debris can get under the seat of the float chamber needle valve. That can cause the valve to stay open, raising the fuel level and flooding the carb.

What would make a carburetor on a tbi flood with fuel?

A carburetor flooding with fuel can result from several issues. A stuck float in the float chamber can prevent proper fuel regulation, allowing too much fuel to enter the carburetor. Additionally, a malfunctioning needle and seat assembly may fail to seal properly, causing excessive fuel flow. Lastly, a clogged fuel line or filter can lead to pressure buildup, contributing to flooding.

What would cause your 92' Chrysler new yorker to choke and putt while you drive?

The car is probably flooding out (Too much gas to the carburetor) . If it has a carburetor on it then it probably needs to be worked on. Also If it has an automatic choke on it then the choke could be sticking (not enough fuel to the carburetor) . If it has fuel injection then possibly a fuel line could be plugged or bad injectors. I am not too familiar with fuel injection systems. You could also try changing the fuel filter. Hope this helps a bit.

How do you replace poulan chainsaw fuel line?

I'm having the same problem with my Poulan chainsaw and weed eater. I think the line starts with the fuel filter in the tank and travels up to the primer bulb, out of the bulb into the carburetor, and out of the carburetor back to the tank. Whatever the size of line is that hooks to the fuel filter is what will hook to the primer bulb and then the carburetor. Then one more single line returns to the tank. I may not be correct on this, but there's not much information available. The diagram on Poulan's website does not show the routing of the fuel lines. that is right but to remove the main line you need to drain fuel and pull the line out from the fuel tank neck first because it has a connection that will not fit threw the hole in top. to replace it cut new line at a slaint and fir it threw from the top down into the fuel tank. then keep it long and pull out enough threw the fuel cap to put fitting back on it and fuel filter then pull it back threw and hook it to primer bubble. Not sure about your answer I have two different size fuel lines on mine. The larger line if I remember correctly runs from primer bulb to the right of fuel tank where the larger opening is located. The smaller line is where I am confused at shouldn't the smaller line from the fuel tank that has in tank filter attached run up to carburetor. then a smaller line from primer bulb to second fitting on carb. byrumjr the line starts with the fuel filter in the tank and travels up to the carburetor out of the carburetor into the primer bulb, out of the primer bulb back in the tank

Why does my Polaris 500 pop through carb wont start?

A carburetor will not start when it does not yet enough fuel. A carburetor will not start if it gets too much. Fuel and not enough air.

What are fuel metering rods in cars?

You must be talking about a CARBURETOR. They are called metering rods. They control how much fuel flows through the jets in the carburetor as you push the gas pedal. They can make a engine run lean or rich, by changing the air/fuel ratio.

Will flooding a carburetor result in raw fuel coming from the exhaust pipe?

a flooded carburetor will spill fuel into the combustion chamber causing an improper fuel to air mixture. too much fuel in the combustion chamber will not completely burn. the unburned fuel will be pushed out of the exhaust.

A clogged fuel filter can actually cause a fuel pump to fail. This is a much more expensive repair than a filter.

What makes a briggs and stratton 4.5 engine run too rich?

A Briggs and Stratton 4.5 engine can run too rich due to several factors, including a clogged air filter that restricts airflow, a malfunctioning carburetor that allows excessive fuel into the mixture, or a faulty fuel pump that delivers too much fuel. Additionally, incorrect adjustments to the carburetor settings or using a wrong fuel type can contribute to a rich condition. Regular maintenance, including cleaning or replacing filters and inspecting the carburetor, can help prevent this issue.
