No CVT fluid must not be used in an ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) gear box. The two systems of transmission are completely different design-aspect wise and functionality wise. CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) fluid is actually designed to suit the special friction needs and pulley-type mechanics of a CVT type of system. With typical automatic transmission, using it may bring severe performance degradation, more wear, and even total failure.
ATF on the other hand was developed on gear based transmissions that have other friction characteristics as well as lubrication properties. You should always consult the owner manual to your car and follow the recommendations of the company on what kind of fluid should be used to make it last long.
At Car Engine Guru you can find high-quality service (warranty covered), used engines and transmissions at low prices to replace or resolve your transmission issues. We are shipping and traders nationwide who will assist you to be back on the road with confidence.
Fluid should be CVT not ATF. Nissan vehciles do not use ATF because of its thickness. It may damage your gearbox.
Honda ATF is used only for Honda's Automatic Transmission vehicles. HMMF & CVT Fluid are used for Honda's Continuously Variable Transmission vehicles. HMMF is more expensive and for the Japan domestic market. CVT for the export models but both works well.
No, CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) fluid should not be used in a traditional automatic transmission (ATF). Each type of transmission requires specific fluid formulated for its design and performance characteristics. Using the wrong fluid can lead to poor performance, increased wear, and potential damage to the transmission. Always refer to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications for the appropriate fluid type.
If it is a CVT transmission then yes you can use cvt gearbox oil in a mini cooper.
Unless you have a CVT transmission use only genuine Honda ATF-DW1 automatic transmission fluid. Use nothing else.
it uses a Delco synthetic transmission fluid on the CVT 4 cylinder transmission and ATF on the V6
CVT means continuously variable transmission and CVT fluid is transmission fluid for such a transmission.
'96-'99 CVT fluid changes are relatively simple. There is a bolt on the passenger side of the transmission that accepts a 1/2" socket wrench nub. Remove that to drain fluid. Put new fluid in (approx 4 quarts). BTW Honda CVT fluid is no longer available, talk to your Honda dealer about what fluid to use. They recommended to me the Honda Genuine ATF. Whatever you do, use only Honda approved ATF for this tranny. Also, flushing the system is recommended for this trans since it has no filter (just the standard magnetic bolt).
The DX, LX, and EX models (with the non-CVT transmission) require 2.5 quarts of Honda ATF-Z1 fluid. The GX and Hybrid models equipped with a Continuously Variable transmission require 3.1 quarts of Honda CVT fluid.
