Horn pout can hurt you. They have sharp spines that are covered with slime and all sorts of bacteria from the pond bottoms. It is easy to have a spine stick into you by accident. If so you had better clean it out thoroughly or else you can get an infection. They do not have teeth that can damage you. But they are slimey and hard to handle and of course they are fighting for their life. But they are good eating and a fun fish to catch.
