Sounds like you need a tune up By itself low coolant would only cause overheating, if it is overheating that can cause runnimg complaints.
Because they usually equate poor acceleration to poor car performance.
The reservoir has two level lines - one for "cold engine" and the other for "hot engine". If the engine is hot, and the coolant level is low, fill the reservoir to the "hot engine" level. When the engine is cold and the level is low, I usually" top off" the radiator and fill the reservoir to the "cold engine" level.
If you poured coolant into the motor I suggest you drain the oil. Somethings coolant can cause inside of your motor.... Thick white smoke from exhaust, poor acceleration, internal damage(if left alone) gum up in oil pan. Everything not good!
There are several possible indications of a blown head gasket: If the head gasket is blown between adjacent cylinders there will be poor or no compression in either cylinder. Poor compression in any cylinder can be caused by a blown head gasket. That condition can also be caused by a burned valve or piston. Coolant in the crank case can be caused by a blown head gasket. Compression in the coolant can be caused by a blown head gasket. An engine with a blown head gasket usually loses performance and runs poorly or not at all.
Poor acceleration in a 4.3L V6 engine could be caused by issues such as clogged fuel filters, dirty air filters, spark plug problems, transmission issues, or a faulty fuel injection system. It's important to have a professional mechanic diagnose the specific cause to address the problem effectively.
There should be a small coolant converter located near the brake booster or near the radiator it has 4 smaller coolant lines. It has a vacuum canister check that vacuum line for any cracks or it could possibly be your thermostat. Check coolant level in the radiator. Just because you have coolant in the reserve tank does not mean that your radiator is full.
Poor coolant circulation in the cooling system.
Cooling fan(s) or fan clutch not working or not working properly. Poor air circulation through radiator because of debris. Poor coolant circulation through inside of radiator because of sludge. Broken or missing fan shroud. Sticky or stuck thermostat. Coolant level low.
If your car is overheating, then a condition exists which needs to be diagnosed and corrected or repaired. It could be bad coolant, poor coolant flow, blockage of air through radiator fins, bad thermostat, or a number of other things.
A fan in a car usually starts running as soon as your car engine gets hot enough for it to be of any benefit. This depends on weather, oil level, coolant level and quality and engine speed. Generally, a car in a hot climate with poor oil and coolant and a high running speed gets hotter quicker.
Poor fuel miliage, rough idle, no start, poor acceleration, stalling.
Thermostat not opening correctly, low coolant level, poor coolant flow (i.e. clogged radiator), head gasket, radiator cooling fan not operating correctly, if it is boiling over, posible weak radiator cap.
