To jump a 1999 CLK 320 Mercedes when you can't access the battery in the trunk, locate the auxiliary jump start terminal under the hood, usually near the driver's side. Use a set of jumper cables, connecting the red cable to the positive terminal on the jump start terminal and the other end to the positive terminal of the donor battery. Connect the black cable to the donor battery's negative terminal, and then attach the other end to a solid ground point on the engine block or chassis of your car. Start the donor vehicle, then attempt to start your Mercedes.
Jump start connections are on the inner front wing.
Positive & negative terminals located under a red rubber cover on the left side of the engine compartment can be used to jump start your battery. For your additional information the battery is under the passenger seat, simply remove the battery's vent cover.
To jump start a 1997 Mercedes 500SL, first ensure both vehicles are turned off. Connect the red jumper cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery and the other end to the positive terminal of the working battery. Then, connect the black jumper cable to the negative terminal of the working battery and attach the other end to a grounded metal surface on the dead vehicle, away from the battery. Start the working vehicle, let it run for a few minutes, and then attempt to start the 500SL.
To jump start a Mercedes S550, first ensure both vehicles are turned off. Connect the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery to the positive (+) terminal of the working battery, followed by the negative (-) terminal of the working battery to an unpainted metal surface on the S550 (not directly to the negative terminal). Start the working vehicle, then attempt to start the S550. Once started, remove the cables in reverse order, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
