yes
one is for gm and mercon is ford now days they make a dexron mercon mix acceptable to both Dexron III and Mercon V have different specs. You should not use Dexron III in place of Mercon V.
Dexron is the GM name, while Mercon is the Ford name. Dexron III and Mercon V are essentially the same fluid. They make mixed fluids that are acceptable in either, so I wouldn't worry about it.
dexron 3 replaces dexron 2, so you could mix them but the dexron 3 is better
Dexron Mercon 3
atf dexron mercon 3 is what it calls for.
You want to use dexron / mercon 3
Mercon III is for older trucks up to ~2000, for an 05 truck I'd go Mercon V. Check with the dealer or knowledgeable tranny shop.
Your transmission takes Dexron 3. Make sure you check it with the vehicle in park when the car is warmed up. The fact that it has overdrive does not matter, it is still Dexron 3, sometimes marker Dexron 3 / Mercon.
Yes dextron 6 can be used in applications otherwise requiring dextron 3
You can use ATF+3 with all older Chrysler transmissions. Do not use ATF+4 Dexron, Mercon, or any other fluid.
The recommended automatic transmission fluid is DEXRON-MERCON, and it requires 3 quarts.
Depends on the year model. 98-99 uses Mercon/Dexron. 2000 and newer use a fully synthetic like Castrol Syngard or Volvo dealer supplied factory fluid. DO NOT use Mercon/Dexron in anything newer than a 99 or you could have a nice little 3 or 4 thousand dollar repair.
