How do you advance the timing on a 1974 dodge dart slant 6?

find the distributor and at the bottom of it there is a bolt that you loosen that loosens the hold down plate that keeps it tight against the engine block, once you loosen the bolt the distributor will turn right or left, start the engine and then slowly turn the distributor one way or the other until you hear the engine RPM increase, when it increases you are advancing the timing.

How can the flywheel be turnedon a frozen engine to turn the engine?

If the engine is froze up, the flywheel can't be turned. You can use a socket and breaker bar on the crankshaft bolt, work it back and forth in both directions and it might break loose, but I wouldn't count on it. Usually you have to take the caps off of the connecting rods in order to turn the crank.

How do you adjustment the idle on 1992 gmc vandura 1500?

Through the carburetor or advance or retard the distributor by turning the distributor cap barely left or right. If you cant turn it then loosen the bolt holding the distributor on to the intake with a wrench then turn the distributor til the engine sounds like its not missing or not to where it's about to turn off.

Will a bad flywheel cause a car to not turn over?

A bad flywheel can definitely cause the engine not to turn over. The flywheel has teeth. If the teeth are chipped or broken, then the starter can not engage to spin the engine over.

How do you set the timing for a 1992 Mazda pick up B2000?

Like most vehicles with a settable timing. You need a timing light and a piece of chalk. The proper setting must be obtained from your manual. It will be something like 10 degrees before or after TDC(Top Dead Center). Connect timing light, mark zero degree on flywheel with chalk. You may need to spin flywheel a little and clean it off to see marks. After marking zero with chalk, start engine and allow to warm up to normal operating temp. loosen bolt holding ignition(distributor) and turn distributor and hold trigger on timing light and aim at flywheel chalk mark. Move distributor so timing light hits chalk mark exactly. Tighten distributor bolt and recheck alignment. You are done, shutoff engine and unconnect light.

Which way do you turn the distributor on a ford 302 to advance the timing?

Loosen the distributor hold-down bolt. Standing in front of the vehicle looking at the engine turning the distributor clockwise advances the timing. Turning the distributor counter-clockwise is retarding the timing. Hold the distributor steady while tightening the hold-down bolt. Factory hold-down bolt needs a 1/2 inch wrench.

How do you align a new torque converter on a 1993 Corolla to the drive plate?

It is easier to do if you install the torque convertor to the transmission and then attempt to bolt it to the flywheel. You will have to turn the convertor or flywheel to line up the bolt holes.
