Yes.
Can it? Yes. Should you use this size? No. Your speedometer will read 58 at a true 60 mph. Handling, performance, ride, and fuel mileage will be adversely effected. If you want to go to a 55 series tire then install size 215/55-18 which is an excellent substitute.
Yes bigger ones are better for rear wheels
No you can not. say for example 265 70 R16 the height of the tire from the rim to outside of tire is 70% of the 265. you can use a calculator to find what size of tire you can use other wise your speedometer will be out
I own a 2004 Audi Allroad with the same tire size: 245 45 R18. Found my chains at Walmart for $35, don't forget the special bungies to keep them tight on your wheel. ps Chains are not illegal in all states. I believe chains are illegal in all states of the US unless you are driving a fuel tanker but I could be wrong. Although I have never seen chains in that size before. If you want better traction I suggest buying some snow tires.
Sure, you can technically use 265 65 r17 tires instead of 225 65r17 tires. However, the 265 tires will be wider and taller than the 225 tires, which may affect your speedometer accuracy and fuel efficiency. It's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole - it might work, but it's not the best idea.
Tires do not use fuel.
Tires for off-road use
It's not reccomended.
Airless tires are tires which are not pumped up with air in the traditional way. Vehicles such as ride-on lawnmowers and golf buggies use airless tires.
