well technically if you think about your car generally runs on what voltage??? 12 volts unless you running a large semi trailer which doesnt seem likely, anyway for instance if you want to run a portable fridge in your car you usually need to run a voltage amplifier or booster which converts a 12 volt current into a higher more powerful current to support your fridge, but what you need is the opposite if you catch my drift, you need to turn larger household current into a lower safer current equal to that of your car battery, unfortuneately i cant tell you exactly what its called but think of it like a phone charger type system, it plugs into your wall to chrge something as little as a phone using whats called resisters which resist and restrict the current and controlling the current, so hopefully that helps you understand that atleast and possibly help you when you go to the electrical store to find what your looking for, im sure something could easily be constructed wit some experience and research
