I just found out that in my little Camaro, my Alternator is bad, and a faulty alternator shows up through your choke light, try replacing, or getting it checked out. ALSO under your dash, right above where your right foot is, there is a control panel, your buzzer is also there, so if your buzzer works, follow the sound. Check the fuses there, maybe ones bad.
Hope I helped.
The "choke" light comes on to warn you that the choke is malfunctioning. Sucking gas mileage sure sounds like the choke is "on" all the time. That's why the light stays on. choke is wired in series with the oil pressure sending unit, had the exact same problem with my 84, replaced the oil sender which is mounted on the side of the engine block and all is good now
Because it most likely has a Quadrajet which has a POS choke system... and because it is a Chevrolet.
Yes it is the same.
