No, you can charge the battery while it's in the car.
You must get a couple of so-called jumper cables. The cables have strong clamps on them and are designed to be clamped to the battery terminals. Attach the black cable to the negative terminals of the motorcycle and car battery first. Then attach the red or positive cable to the positive terminals of the motorcycle and the car battery. In case your motorcycle battery is empty, you can now start the bike from the car battery. Disconnect the cables in reverse order, beginning with the red cable. The motorcycle battery will not be charged much by the car battery but the bike can be jump started by using this method.
usuallyyou just disconnect the battery terminals for about 3 minutes.
Power does not go to the battery, it comes from the battery, except when the car is running. At that time power does go to the battery from the alternator. Disconnect the + battery terminal.
on the battery
Most battery terminals are made of lead.
make sure radio settings/presets are saved disconnect negative battery terminal disconnect positive battery terminal unscrew the battery mount take battery out put new battery in put the mount back reconnect battery terminals
You either have corroded battery terminals (where cables hook on battery)or a bad alternator ...Autozone willtest for free
No, it is not safe to touch car battery terminals as they can deliver a powerful electrical shock.
If working on the electrics of a car then it is a sensible precaution to disconnect the battery.
Some car battery charges will not charge a completely dead battery. You need to find a type of battery charger that is designed to charge a completely dead battery. You can get around this by hooking a car with a working battery up to the dead battery with jumper cables. The alternator/charging system of the car with the good battery will charge the dead battery. Leave them connected for about 30 min, then disconnect and try to use the battery charger again. If it still won't charge, hook it up to the car with the good battery for a longer period of time.
If it is like the 97, you disconnect the battery harness (bar that runs over the top of the battery connecting on both sides..)disconnect the terminals, remove the battery.. put new battery in and reconnect everything you just removed.. not overly difficult.. Good luck.. :)
