What do you mean by "has no heat"? No air blowing out, blowing out cold air when heater is on, blowing nothing at all? Heater not turning on? What specifically is happening?
First check the coolant level, a coolant leak would cause a heater to stop working- assuming you mean the blower is blowing but it isn't hot. A stuck thermostat will also cause you problems with your heat.
If by quit working you mean quit blowing, the things to troubleshoot are the blower motor, the blower motor resistor switch, or the blower motor speed selector switch. If by quit working you mean it only blows cold or warm air, the thermostat is probably stuck in the open position.
Sounds like a bad thermostat Most vehicles located in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator Remove this housing Note how thermostat is installed Clean both surfaces Replace thermostat and gasket Replace housing Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an air lock Start engine and look for leaks Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on Re-check coolant level
can you please clarify what you mean, do you mean that the front heater blows cold but the rear blows hot or do you mean that when the heating is on cold it blows hot? many thanks paul
usually that the heater is swithed on. However if the setting sais it is not set to heat the cable that is conected to the settins may have come loose.
Possible causes; Low coolant, broken water pump, severely clogged cooling system. The heater uses the heat in the engine coolant circulating through the engine. It uses a heater core which is basically a smaller version of the car radiator. If there is no coolant flowing, the heater core will not be able to warm incoming air.
Could be low on coolant or a sticky thermostat.
This usually means you have a bad thermostat. But could be the water pumptoo, also your heater core could be plugged up. Change the thermostat first and see where that gets you, if still cold take the truck and have the cooling system flushed with the flushing machine.
A blizzard refers to a severe snowstorm that has strong winds, low temperatures, and poor visibility due to blowing snow. So, it is associated with cold weather conditions.
Unless your van has some unusual heating system, the heat going out could mean that you are totally out of coolant, or your thermostat may be stuck closed. If you have a normal heating system and your heater is still blowing air, just not hot air, it could be those two things. Is the van having any other problems?
THE BLOCK HEATER IS A HEATING ELEMENT THAT IS LOCATED INSIDE ONE OF YOUR ENGINE BLOCKS FROST PLUGS. ALL VEHICLES THAT HAVE A BLOCK HEATER HAVE A REGULAR ELECTRICAL CORD THAT PLUGS INTO A WALL SOCKET USUALL INSIDE YOUR GARAGE OVERNIGHT SO THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT CAN BE HEATED SO THAT WHEN INCLEMENT WEATHER COMES YOU DONT HAVE TO WAIT TILL YOUR CAR RUNS FOR A WHILE BEFORE GETTING ANY HEAT. NO YOUR THERMOSTAT DOES NOT NEED TO BE CHANGED. IF NOT SURE YOU CAN ALWAYS SWITCH TO AN ALL SEASON THERMOSTAT.
