Yes, gasoline starts to get "old" after you bring it home from the station. After about 30 days (depending on octane level, your sea level, ambient temp & other variables), it starts to get stale.

Lawn mowers or other small engines in a chain-store type warehouse, that have been in an extended storage situation, have needed carb work to get them running. Most of the time however, car, truck, acreage tractor engines with four cylinders or more, will run on old gas. Usually just starting hard.

A good rule of thumb is to not buy more than 30 days worth of gas to use for your small engines. The exception would be in the dead of winter for your snow-blower equipment, don't want to be stranded you know.

Any brand of fuel stabilizer is good to use, after 20 years of engine work, they all do about the same, no real standouts.
