There is no better oil. Each oil has more or less benefits depending on your situation. Like anything you get what you pay for, cheaper oils have less costly additives that keep your engine clean and wear to a minimum.
Old World Industries: Old World Industries is just the name of the company and they do not refine oil. Their oil is refined by different companies at different times. Who refines their oil as of 4/2013 is anyone guess.
You don't necessarily want the cheapest oil, diesels need GOOD oil. I am a diesel mechanic and I highly recommend Shell 15W40 motor oil.
Umm...they sell gas cheaper? They also sell the most popular synthetic motor oil, Mobil 1. Shell, OTOH...Shell has the new "nitrogen enriched gasoline" that is supposed to be a really great detergent fuel, and Shell's Rotella T is the leading heavy duty motor oil for big trucks and old Volkswagens. On the human rights and ecological fronts, oil companies are essentially evil no matter which one they are. I think it's basically a wash.
