Both shocks on the front, struts on the back depending on the make it might have it both ways!
You have coil springs front and rear as well as shocks.
Front or rear?
Bad shocks/struts, misalligned wheels or worn out suspension in general. Mechanics will be able to pinpoint exact problem(s).
The shocks are there for a reason. Removing them would cause damage.

They do not use shock dampers on the rear. They use struts and gas springs. If the gas springs go sitting in the back will feel like being pushed in a wheel barrow. Hard and bumpy. You can get new ones from various suppliers like EverythingRollsRoyce.com Front ones - push the front bumper up and down with your knee a couple of times, then let it bounce. It should stop after one up and down really. If it can't be pushed up and down or it is very low, the damper oil has probably leaked out.
your air bags need replacing. they only last an average of ten years by design. FWIW< please dont put "fix a flat" in the schrader valve or try to replace the shocks with air shocks(neither will work) there are several companies that sell replacement bags.
