Does the Pontiac 3.1 Liter sfi 3100 V6 have any problems?
No, it is a non-interference motor
if the car is a 95 and up, it under the exhaust crossover pipe
Per Haynes guide book it is 1-4,2-5,3-6.
Yes. But if you're going through all the trouble, why settle for a 3100 SFI when you can swap in a 3400 SFI? Fits like a glove! Go to 60degreev6.com for more info.
3.1 V6 has 160 HP? Correction: The 3100 SFI lost 5HP in 1995 and sits at 155HP for that year. The 3100 SFI in 1994 originally did have 160HP, you are right about that. So if this 1995 model has a 3100 SFI V6, it's 155HP. If it has the four cylinder (2.2L OHV), it's 120HP.

The firing order for the 3100 SFI V6 (VIN code "M") engine is 1-2-3-4-5-6. The source for this information is the original service manual, page 6A5B-52. The firing order for the 2.2 Liter L4 (VIN code "4") engine is 1-3-4-2. Same source but page 6A2B-41 By-the-way, the ODD cylinders 1-3-5 are on the side of the engine closest to the firewall, with the number one cylinder closest to the passenger side of the vehicle and the number 5 cylinder closest to the driver's side. Obviously, the EVEN cylinders 2-4-6 are on the side of the engine closest to the front of the vehicle with the number 2 cylinder closest to the passenger side, and the number 6 cylinder closest to the driver's side.
