Fuel injection is needed in propeller driven fighter planes because a carburetor would not deliver fuel to the pistons when turning, diving or climbing. The carburetor relies to an extent on gravity to work. If you have ever been on a roller coaster and gone down a steep drop, your stomach will tell you why a carburetor would not deliver fuel to the airplane engine in a dive.
