To change the oil filter element on a Scion XD, first, ensure the engine is cool and the vehicle is on a level surface. Locate the oil filter, which is typically beneath the engine. Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old filter, then apply a bit of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter before installing it. Finally, reinstall the oil filter, tighten it securely, and replace the engine oil if necessary.

On a 2010 Scion xB, the oil filter is located on the engine block, typically on the driver's side, near the front of the vehicle. It is positioned below the intake manifold and can be accessed from underneath the car or from the top, depending on your approach. Be sure to use caution and have the necessary tools if you plan to change it yourself.
Undo the clamp on the oil filter canister, remove the oil filter element, (never figured out a not ghetto way to do this) vacuum out the oil at the bottom of the canister with a wet/dry shop vac, put new filter element in and put new oil into the canister. Put the top back on securely and tighten the clamp back down.
that filter is an outside element - not an oil filter but an air filter
