Need to know if you have the Quad Four or the V6 engine in order to answer this.
i need to change my alternator belt and don't know where the tension wheel is so i can take off the other belt to replace the alternator belt on my 94 Mazda protege 1.6l
You need to know the measure in order to answer the question.
I don't know... But... If you run a piece of string around all the pulleys etc that the belt would go around, if you carefully pinch the string between your fingers where it meets itself, when you remove it you can measure the length from the end to where your fingers are. This will give you a guide as to the length of belt required. Or If you have the old belt you could lay it out and measure it that way, or perhaps the markings are still visible on the old belt. The length is always printed on the belt! Or your local vehicle accessory shop should have a drive belt catalog with the relevant details
Because if dies on you after you have replaced the timing belt it will cost as much as replace the timing belt. If you do not know, in order to remove the water pump you need to remove the timing belt it's about $300-600 depending where you live. Do you really want to pay such money twice?
We need to know the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle then we need to know if you want to change the belt tensioner or the belt or both.
Yes, I know of no engine where the alternator is driven by the cam belt. The alternator is driven by a drive belt or serpentine belt.
