ok first off if you dont see the filter in the engine bay that means that you still have the original. You need to jack up the car from the rear and locate the very small oem filter its above the diff and its hard to get to, but its held in place by a simple clamp, so are the hoses. Remove the hoses and establish wich is supply and return, have a friend crank the motor but not start oce you have inlet and out your good to go Steven240 here. I just changed my fuel filter on my 1990 240SX and it is the original and it is in the engine compartment. I think what you're talking about here is the fuel screen. I had that replaced when I had a new fuel pump installed. The fuel filter is in the engine compartment on the passenger side. Look to where the fuel lines come up and see one of them enter into the fuel filter about the size of a small coffee cup. The other line (return) is clipped to the side of the supporting bracket holding the fuel filter. It is original parts and it is a listed Nissan part. You can get the filter for about $23.00 from an auto parts store and easily put it in yourself. Hope this helps.
