This is for the battery side headlamp. Before you start remind yourself that this is a pig of a job - it gets you in the right frame of mind. Make sure it's daylight (!! design fault here). Loosen the battery terminals by undoing the 10 mm nut on the opposite side of the pole to the wires. Safely remove terminal ends from the battery. Undo the 13 mm bolt that holds the battery in place using a 20 cm extension to your socket set. Keep the bold safe and slide out the clip that holds the battery. Carefully remove the heavy battery.
You will now have much more acceptable access to the rear of the head lamp. Use a short screwdriver to lever up the metal clip that holds the top of the rear headlamp cover. When this clip is off the rear headlamp cover will swing down a little but two covered bundles of wires will still be making access very difficult. Lift the bottom of the rear headlamp cover 5 mm or so to free the bottom lugs and remove the cover and keep it safe.
Ease the electrical connection off the back of the light bulb by pulling firmly toward the back of the car. Look out for your hand hitting something as it comes free.
Unclip the light bulb by pressing the most lateral (toward the side) end in then up. The clip should then pivot on it's hinge which is on the medial (towards the middle of the engine bay) edge of the headlight rear assembly.
Replace the light bulb! I did this by placing the odd one of the 3 projections at the top of the aperture but I don't know if this is right. I reckonned I could see where the other lugs went and the slots weren't big enough for the odd one out projection on the base of the bulb.
To put it all back together the first thing I had to do was use a magnetic reaching tool to retrieve the spring clip from the bottom of the engine bay where my previous, night time, efforts had left it. Hopefully your clip is still attached!
Swing the clip across and press it in and down to engage the clip in it's hooks.
Attach the electical connection.
Fiddle the rear headlight cover into place so the two projections on it's lower longer edge fit into the slots and the bundled wires behind it. Use the short screw driver to clip the cover in place and Bob's your uncle - you've only got the battery to put back.
The battery is held in place with a plate clip that is most easily slid into place then the bolt fitted afterwards.
Good luck.
