It would help if you had a year, model, and what engine it has. Basically, disconnect your batteries, locate the starter, disconnect the wires at the back of the starter (make sure you keep track of which ones go where... maybe cable tie wires clustered together if you have one of these newer, multiplexed trucks), remove the bolts to the starter (should be a 5/8" or 16mm 12 point socket for that... one that you can use an impact with, as those often get seized in there.. maybe a good idea to put some anti-seize on the bolts when you replace them). Installation is the opposite of removal. It's time consuming, but simple parts changing.
Could be a starter solenoid going bad, it could be ECM problems, it could be a number of things.
The starter goes with the engine, not with the truck. I've never measured torque when replacing a starter on a medium- or heavy duty truck... just ensure it's properly seated, ensure its secure, and roll with it.
