Taking out the centre console.
First you'll need to remove the armrest
lever up the plastic cover under the handbrake using a flat blade screw diver from the middle of the little plastic cover on the edge nearest the rear of the car
You'll see 2 10mm bolts in there that need to be removed. (They also hold down the centre console)
Then slide both front seats right forward. Get in the back and you'll see 2 phillips screws at the bottom of each side of the armrest. Take these out, now the armrest should be free to lift up a bit. Leave it in place though, no need to disconnect the window switches, just have it floating loose.
Now get back into the front, (You may need to put the seats back for this)
There is an obvious phillips screw either side of the centre console to remove, take the ash tray out and there is another phillips screw to remove right at the back of that hole.
Now you have to carefully prise out the switches either side of the clock and disconnect the wirring from them. Now get down low and look through the holes where these switches have come out of and you'll see a hidden phillips screw either side in the switch holes. Take these out and the centre console should be able to move free (carefull of any wiring still connected though)
Now you can disconnect any more wiring, i.e. the clock and ciggy lighter socket and with a bit of jiggery pokery you should be able to manouver the centre console round to enable you to remove the clock, which IIRC has one phillips screw either side from the back.
although the above is the approved way to do it, if you take the radio/cd out, and have small hands and nimble fingers (or a small child you can bribe) it can be done that way by reaching up and round (i did it).

The Rover 25 typically uses a T5 wedge bulb for the clock illumination. These bulbs are often available in various wattages, but a common choice is the 1.2W version. It's advisable to check your vehicle's manual or consult with a parts supplier to confirm the specific bulb type for your model year.
