The main fuel filter is part of the fuel pump located inside the fuel tank. The tank must be evacuated and removed to replace the filter by removing the pump assembly and installing a new filter. I have recently replaced my fuel pump, and it isn't much fun.
The easy answer is that there is also an "in-line" filter located somewhere on the chassis (I don't remember the exact location) on the chassis, and can be replaced fairly easily from underneath the vehicle.
