you jack up the car,find the oil pan..find the nut that drains the oil, drain it, put the nut back on locate the oil filter (underneath the intake manifold) take it off. Then get the new one and lube the top of the new filter with little bit of oil.......Then put it on hand tight.........Lower the the car.Take off the valve cover cap....Then put the oil in.(i use 5qts 10w-30) I don't know about your '98 lude, but my '97 oil filler cap, and the Chiltons guide both recommend using the manufacturer's choice of 5w-30. just a thought.
The oil pump on a 94 Honda Prelude is changed by draining the oil, unbolting the oil pan, and removing it from the vehicle. The oil pump can then be unbolted from the engine and a new one installed.

On a 1991 Honda Prelude 2.1SI, the Oil Sensor is located slightly above the Oil Filter.
Might be something as simple as time for an oil change.
Rule of thumb is to replace up to 5 quarts of oil on every oil change. If you change the oil on your own, you can either get 5 individual quarts of oil, or get a jug of oil, which contains 5 quarts.
Take it to a Honda Civic garage / mechanic.
