If it's the factory rear, you need to use some sort of vacuum pump to suck the old fluid out, since there is no drain plug on the 55 rears. You then add fluid at the fill plug on the rear of the axle housing until it runs out of the hole. Use 75-90 for light applications, or 80-90, possible higher for heavy duty applications like racing. If you have a posi rear, be sure to use some posi additive.
What is the fluid capacity front differential 2004
To change the differential fluid on a 2004 Chevy Express, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and safely elevated. Remove the differential cover bolts and carefully take off the cover to drain the old fluid, then clean the surfaces. Replace the gasket, reattach the cover, and fill the differential with new fluid through the fill plug until it reaches the appropriate level. Finally, replace the fill plug and check for leaks.
