I've just changed the windscreen washer pump on my 04 VW Polo. The screen washers were not working and I checked the fuse which was OK. So next I went to the pump and removed it. I tested it by wiring it to a 12 Volt battery and no function, so it needed replacing. It's a fairly easy job.
The windscreen washer bottle is tucked away in front of the front wheel arch. Turn the steering hard right. This enables access to unscrew the plastic moulding in the front of the wheelarch. Unscrew the four screws in the front of the wheelarch and two which are right underneath the car. Although they are star shaped screw heads a flat screwdriver will work. Then, prise the moulding towards the wheel and use something to wedge it open. You can now see the pump positioned on the side of the washer bottle. Use a long screwdriver to prise the pump up. Disconnect the pipes and electrical plug.
In the hole where the pump penetrates the washer bottle there is a black grommet. Take this out. When you fit the new pump in, push the grommet onto the inlet spout of the pump then put the pump into the bottle. Do not put the grommet into the hole in the bottle then push the pump into it as you will push the grommet into the bottle and lose it as I did! If you do need a new grommet, VW main dealers have them for around 50p.
I found a new pump at my local car parts supplier for just over £13. They are kicking around on Ebay cheaper. There seem to be two options - one has the two electrical connection terminals in line and the other the terminals are at right angles. Be sure to get the right one.
The pump needs to be pressed well into the bottle to seal. Once fitted and tested for function and leaks, you can re-fit the plastic moulding in the wheelarch.
look under the bonnet!!
Put insulation take
Take a peek at the washer bottle in the engine compartment. It should have two little pumps that set into it.This shows that both the windscreen, and rear wiper get their fluid from the bottle in the front.

The cast of Polo Court - 2004 includes: Anna Maria Polo as Judge Richelle Whiten as Guest
The front door speakers in a 2004 Volkswagen Polo measure 6.7 inches. This is equal to about 170 mm or 17 cm.
The ECU is at back of engine bay under windscreen beneath long plasic cover which is in two parts fixed by clips and two screws
On the 1.6 1998 Classic the pollen/cabin filter is under the piece of black plastic just near the windscreen on the passenger side. Theres a black rubber strip to remove first of all holding the black plastic in place. It runs the width of the engine bay up where the washer nozzles would be if the bonnet was down. Lift up the plastic and theres a square filter. Pull it out and replace it. I cant imagine the 1.4 is any different.
There's is a little knob next to the millage if you hold this twisted to the left . . .the hours will change. . . if you hold this twisted clockwise then the minute will change. Hope this helps.
